I think everyone who struggles with weight loss has that one thing they struggle with. Mine one thing...food. Yes, all food. I truly just enjoy cooking and eating. I love reading cookbooks...we won't talk about how many cookbooks I own. I was raised around great Southern cooks that battered and fried everything. It was either swimming in grease or seasoned with it. I recall running to eat the fatback from the stove at my grandmother's house she would render to fry her collards in.
I used to joke that if I could just cut my taste buds off, I could drop the pounds easily. I just love food!
So that's the trick for me. I can't do traditional diet food...it just does not taste good. I have to find ways to season so I crave the things that I should be eating. I like salad...but not sure if it is for the salad or the croutons. So, I have to look for ways to adjust what I eat to eat the way I should eat.
My first elimination...sugar. I CRAVE SUGAR! Is there anything worse? I tend to spiral if I even have a little sugar when I'm not holding myself accountable. I love sweet tea because I was raised on it and nothing is better on a hot day. And lemonade...mmmmm! Sugar in my morning coffee... The list of how sugar can rule my day is long. So that is my first thing to do...goodbye sugar. I will miss you...but the need for an afternoon nap... I will not.
